Botox Comments:
I have been used botox every three months for two years. It worked well at first. Later it worked less well and often with considerable drooping and paralysis of my mouth. I had my last Botox in February 2008 as the side effects out weighed the benefits and I knew I wanted to try MVD.

Comments:
Update as of 02/12/09 – I now consider myself to be spasm free!!!! What a joy to go out in public and not worry about what my face looks like. I just can't stop smiling. My recovery is going very well. I did have a couple of days when I had fever and chills, my neck and back ached, and my headache was worse. Dr. Kaufmann's nurse, Janice, said that there is such a thing as "chemical meningitis", which is basically a reaction to the drugs, teflon, etc. As my symptoms only lasted a couple of days, I am inclined to think that I just had a touch of flu. Anyway, I am feeling great now and rarely get a headache unless I really overdo things.
