Symptoms Experienced:
It started in Albany, NY April 29th 2009 for no reason. I traveled cross country and thought that the symptoms (lowering of the upper eyelid when I smiled, ate, talked, laughed, etc) was due to jetlag and fatigue but it didn’t resolve no matter how much sleep I got. July 6th 2009 the symptoms progressed so that the corner of my mouth started drawing up and tightening in a grimace/smile periodically throughout the day. The whole right side of my face frequently feels tense even when it is not actively twitching. I received my diagnosis July 27th 2009 after many tests and specialists. I’m trying to cope and not draw attention to how uncomfortable I am but it makes me very self-conscience; especially when I’m the focus of attention like during a presentation.

I haven't tried any treatments yet but am interested in exploring alternative medicine, like acupuncture, before Botox or surgery.
